About

I'm an editor specialising in art and culture publications. My clients are galleries, museums, cultural companies, government organisations, publishers and writers. My projects range from scholarly art books, catalogues and published essays to policy and planning documents, marketing material and reports.

I love working with writers to finesse engaging and flawless copy. Whether you need a substantive edit, a copyedit or a proofread, regardless of scale and content, I approach every project with joy and respect. I make sure text is clear, consistent, compelling and correct while preserving the uniqueness of each writer’s voice.

I’m expert in the style conventions of art publishing, including catalogue details for artworks and referencing systems. I create industry standard Style Guides for galleries and museums tailored to their specific needs. I understand the special needs of art writing, which must balance conceptual and creative integrity with clear and accessible language.

Before becoming an editor in 2016 I worked in the arts industry, originally as a registrar and curator and, for the major part of my career, as a director and CEO. This experience underpins my ability to edit and provide advice about the whole gamut of documents required to run a cultural business. It is also the foundation of my work as an arts consultant with a focus on strategic planning.

I am a qualified proofreader and a member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd). I follow the national guidelines for thesis editing and IPED’s Standards for Editing Practice.

As well as art publishing, I enjoy working on a variety of non-fiction including cookbooks, guidebooks, handbooks, course books and illustrated publications about design, architecture and travel.
